Additions to the Food Safety Magazine
Advisory Board
Food Safety Magazine is pleased to announce that Larry
Cohen, principal scientist in the Global Microbiology and
Food Safety Department for Kraft Foods in Glenview, IL,
has joined the Food Safety Magazine Advisory Board. He is a
member of the International Association of Food Protection,
United Fresh Produce Association, Institute of Food Tech-
nologists (IFT), Grocery Manufacturers Association, Ameri-
can Frozen Food Institute and International Dairy Foods Association.
William Fisher, M.Sc., has also joined the advisory
board. He is the vice president of science and policy initiatives at IFT and is responsible for all scientific, technical and
government activities. Prior to his work at IFT, he gained extensive experience in the food industry, including positions
involving packaged foods, foodservice and public health and
safety.
Alexandra Veiga, Ph.D., is the science manager at the In-stituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica, Universidade
Nova de Lisboa (ITQB-UNL), Lisbon, Portugal, and is the
Chair of the EFFoST (European Federation of Food Science
and Technology) Special Interest Group on Food Safety. We
welcome our new board members and look forward to their
expert contributions to Food Safety Magazine.

IAFP Names

as Recipient of
Black Pearl Award
The International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) selected Fresh Express, Inc. as the
2010 recipient of the prestigious
Black Pearl Award. Sponsored
by Wilbur Feagan and F & H
Food Equipment Company, the
Black Pearl Award will be presented at the IAFP 2010 Annual
Meeting in Anaheim, CA in
August.
This honor is given annually to one company
for its efforts in advancing food safety and quality through consumer programs, employee relations, educational activities, adherence to
standards and support of the goals and objectives of IAFP.
